With the warm weather back in our midst, everyone was in a different mind set yesterday it seems. Whether from the sun rays, or the good vibes, we found a pinnacle of this good-natured mindset yesterday as we checked in at Brioche Bistro for their “Take The Mic” night, held monthly at the Weatherford Square’s bistro/café/delicatessen fusion.
Partnering with Grace Community Fellowship’s older youth group, The Path, “Take The Mic” is a monthly event held at Brioche, that in the Path’s eyes is “creating an artistic environment for the bored, young locals”. We here at QXFM are inclined to agree.
When we finally cozied on up to the Bistro, somewhere between our last espresso and 8PM, we were floored to see so many young adults gathered in one place for the one thing you don’t see very often: good clean fun.
The brain child of Student Leader Pastors, Linda and Albert Leal, and Student Leaders ,Tyler Mask and Amanda Dorsey, “Take The Mic” has been around for quite a while; originally at the Bookcase, the monthly happening quickly outgrew it’s digs, and Cherish Plemons, owner of Brioche, gladly welcomed The Path into it’s larger space at their 105 College Avenue location, on the square in Weatherford.
Since moving, Tyler and Amanda have taken the reigns of “Take The Mic” which Linda Leal has said “they have done a phenomenal job growing and running the event…We couldn’t be more pleased”.
We for one are glad to see Weatherford businesses and churches partnering together in a way such as this; actively pursuing wholesome activities for our youth.
“Take the Mic” is definitely on our list of monthly events to check out, and we recommend you do the same!
